Your Relationship to the Bride or Groom Will Dictate Your Spending

newly wed couplesWedding guests spend between $372 and $630 on average, depending on how close they are to the bride or groom, according to a survey.

The survey based its findings on polling almost 2,230 adult Americans. The expenses may include presents, transportation, hotel rooms, clothes and miscellaneous costs. If it’s a destination wedding, the amount you spend will likely cost more.

Price of Attendance

In some cases, guests start spending the minute they attend pre-wedding events such as bachelor or bachelorette parties. The place where you live also determines how much you would spend on a wedding.

Those who attend a wedding in Northeastern states could spend more than $1,000, according to the poll. Gifts likely account for the biggest share of expenses, while the guest’s age determines their willingness to splurge on an item.

Americans between 18 and 37 years old are the ones who spend the least at $57 on average when they are in the wedding party. While guests may find it expensive to say yes to an invitation, couples have a more stressful time planning their big day.

Regional Costs

The average cost of a wedding in the U.S. amounts to a total of $29,858. It may be more or less expensive in some states. For instance, the average wedding in Colorado costs $31,435.

Budget-conscious couples that want to save on a venue should consider prepping a place with event decor rental from firms such as Alexan Events. In Denver and other cities, renting an entire venue costs $3,100 on average in the country.

This makes it the second highest expense for the wedding reception, so think about decorating a familiar space that can hold a rather big guest list.

You may think that not going to a wedding is the simpler way to save money, but there are other ways to control your expenses such as renting a suit or dress for the occasion. The same applies to couples that want to save the money for their future, instead of spending it all on one day.
